During Tuesday night's Lafayette City-Parish Council meeting, members unanimously approved the new "No Wake Zone" Ordinance.

The Ordinance was brought to the Council by Coucilwoman Liz Webb Hebert.

"I was inspired to author this ordinance because of the calls I received from friends and constituents who experienced reckless drivers who were driving too fast in their neighborhoods causing large wakes, sending water into their homes," says Webb Hebert on her Facebook Page.

As discussed at the meeting, a law enforcement officer will have to witness the reckless driver himself/herself.

"Keep in mind that all of those who have been ticketed have the chance to explain the reason for speeding to a judge," says Webb Hebert.
