Lafayette City-Parish Government will consider an ordinance Tuesday night that will grant Lafayette Central Park, Inc., the development organization that is responsible for transforming the former university horse farm into Lafayette's future central park, additional time to fund and begin construction on the site. The nonprofit organization missed a July 26 pre-lease deadline and will have to delay construction.

Also in the agenda, the council is expected to declare a proposed police substation a public necessity and to authorize LCG administration to acquire property for the new development. According to The Daily Advertiser, the proposed site is to be located where the Less Pay Motel is located near the intersection of University Avenue and Cameron Street.
