Nearly two dozen Candidates are vying for outgoing Burnell Lemoine's job. 22 People have now applied to become the next superintendent of Lafayette Parish Public Schools. Among those seeking the post are Donald Aguillard, schools Superintendent in St. Mary Parish, and Sheila Guidry, the current executive director of the state Department of Education's School Turnaround Office. The application period for the job closes Sept. 12. The board plans to choose a new superintendent by Dec. 7. Lemoine's contract ends Dec. 31.
