Livingston Parish sheriff's deputies have arrested a Walker police officer.  They alleged he beat a man he arrested in an alleged sexual assault case.

Police arrested 32-year-old James Dipuma of Denham Springs.  The man has two prior excessive force complaints filed against him while working in East Baton Rouge Parish.

He was fired by Livingston parish in January for conduct unbecoming of an officer.

Dipuma has now been suspended by the Walker Police Department.

Sheriff's office spokesman Sgt. Gene Higginbotham says Dipuma was booked on malfeasance charges and second-degree battery.

He later bonded out.
