Livingston Parish Man Booked In Death Of Six-Year-Old

WATSON, La. (AP) — Livingston Parish sheriff’s deputies say a driver who ran over a 6-year-old neighbor boy in Watson last month has been booked with negligent homicide.

Deputies tell The Advocate 32-year-old Brad Welch, of Watson, was talking on his cellphone at the time of the accident and did not see Tyler Myers riding a scooter on a sidewalk that crosses Welch’s driveway.

Welch was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center Wednesday and later released on $25,000 bail.

It was unclear whether Welch has an attorney.
