MANDEVILLE, La. (AP) — Mandeville Junior High School was placed on lockdown after school officials found a loaded handgun in a boy's restroom

A school district spokesman says two students were arrested following Wednesday's incident.

Mandeville police Lt. Gerald Sticker said students had heard rumors about another student possibly having a loaded handgun and alerted school officials. A school resource officer found the gun in the restroom.

Sticker said there is no immediate danger to students or faculty, but the school has been placed on lockdown as a precaution.

School district spokeswoman Meredith Mendez said a "robo call" went out to parents of the school's students to inform them of the discovery of the weapon and the subsequent lockdown.
