7-year-old Ahni Bertrand and her parents have been dealing with type 1 diabetes since she was a toddler, as she was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease around the age of 2. This year, she's upping her fight against the autoimmune disease.

On October 24, JDRF One Walk will be taking place at Sugar Mill Pond in Youngsville. The event raises money for one single goal: to "create(ing) a world without type 1 diabetes (TID). According to the JDRF website, type 1 diabetes "strikes both children and adults suddenly and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle."

The event will begin with Check-in at 8:00 a.m.; the 1.5-mile walk will start at 9:00 a.m.

There are seven teams signed up for the event; one of them is Team Ahni.

Listen below to Ahni and her dad, Dylan, tell her story on "The Morning Show" and why they are taking the fight to Type 1 Diabetes. You can donate to Team Ahni by CLICKING HERE.
