Local Organization Donates Teddy Bears To Lafayette Fire Dept.

A local chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International made a furry donation to the Lafayette Fire Department this week.

Fire Department spokesman Alton Trahan said members of the fire department, including Chief Robert Benoit, thanked the organization's Alpha Alpha Chapter for their donation of teddy bears.

The stuffed animals will be given to children whose lives have been disrupted by emergency situations, including house fires.

Trahan said the bears are intended as comfort items to help lessen the blow of those traumatic events.

Alpha Delta Kappa International is an international honorary organization of women educators dedicated to educational excellence, altruism and world understanding.
