A Friday night stabbing leads local police to shoot and kill a suspect.

Lafayette Police say the 74-year-old victim was allegedly stabbed multiple times by a friend. The suspect then fled the scene in the man's car, and was pulled over by the police twenty minutes later. As the officers approached, the driver, Anthony J. Sonnier, threw the car into reverse and struck one of them.  The other officers then began to open fire,  killing the suspect. The officer responsible for the shooting has been placed on paid administrative leave while State Police investigate. The stabbing remains under investigation.
