Teurlings Catholic High School was placed on lockdown earlier today after a suspect trying to elude police came into their area.

Sergeant Randal Leger with Lafayette Police says they were helping an outside agency in a vehicle chase which had entered into the city limits of Lafayette. He says the suspect got out of his vehicle in the 200 block of Sherwood Drive and tried to run away on foot, which caused nearby schools to be placed on lockdown.

Sgt. Leger says the lockdown of all schools has since been released.
