Long-Serving La. Board Of Regents Member Resigns
The longest serving member of the Louisiana Board of Regents, Roland Toups, has voluntary resigned amid pressure from the Jindal administration to make the board more diverse. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat calls the move one of the most amazing he's seen in his life of politics. In his letter of resignation, Toups says the administration asked him to resign essentially to make way for more diversity on the board. Pinsonat says the Jindal administration is trying to fix the mistake of only appointing white members to the board. A lawsuit was recen
tly filed claiming the make-up of the Board of Regents is unconstitutional. Pinsonat says Toups resignation is the result of the Jindal administration admiting they have not done a good job at appointing minorities to state boards. He says he wonders how the Jindal administration could get into such a mess.
