The Mudbugs, a professional hockey team that had called Shreveport and Bossier City home for 14 years, has folded, leaving fans and the local economy hurting.Earlier this month the team announced that it would cease operations. The team had been losing money even though it was one of the top teams in the Central Hockey League. This year, it won the league's President's Cup.  Becky Berry, the director of the Center for Business and Economic Research at LSU-Shreveport, says that the team contributed more than $2.6 million to the local economy during its 2009-2010 season.  The team played at the CenturyLink Center in Bossier City. Officials say the Center does not have another anchor tenant lined up and does not foresee one coming in this year.
