Oberlin, La. (AP) — A Louisiana sheriff says his deputies shot and wounded a man who pointed a rifle at them.

Parish Sheriff Doug Hebert says his deputies responded Tuesday to a call about a man standing in a roadway, armed with a rifle. He says 36-year-old Patrick Noel was shot and wounded after pointing the rifle at deputies.

Noel then ran to his home and was arrested by SWAT team members from Allen and Beauregard parishes.

The sheriff tells KPLC-TV that Noel was taken to a hospital for treatment, and that state police are investigating. Other details were not immediately available.
