Flooding in January in Acadiana has gotten the notice of President Obama.  He signed a declaration that stated a major disaster took place in Acadia, Catahoula, Concordia, East Carroll, Evangeline, Franklin, Jefferson Davis, Livingston, Madison, St. Landry, and Vermilion Parishes.

What that means for the area is that there will be access to federal aid in recovering from the flooding for state and local governments and certain non-profit organizations.

FEMA has stated that there may be more designations made at a later date if the state asks for them and they are deemed appropriate after further assessment.
