For the second year in a row the Center for Disease Control gave Louisiana a perfect score for preparedness and response to health emergencies. The emergencies included the flu, West Nile, floods and hurricanes. Dr. Jimmy Guidry, with the state office of public health, says that this is due to the private sector being so ready. He also says the health department likely got the high score because they get a lot of practice in real-life situations.
