SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — An Elm Grove man says he has the solution to the problem of an invasive plant clogging many Caddo Parish area lakes.

John Borque on Monday showed the Caddo Commission videos of his "Water Mower," which he said vacuums the plants, mulches them and disperses the plant material back into the water.

He said the material sinks to the bottom and doesn't regenerate.

The Times reports that (http://bit.ly/MbLMSp ) Borque is seeking the Caddo Commission's help in getting the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to use his machine. He said he believes his invention would save taxpayers' money because it would do a better job of getting rid of the plants than herbicide spraying.
