A Louisiana native is set to be named the next U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

CBS Lead National Correspondent (another Louisiana native) David Begnaud reported in a Tweet that Linda Thomas-Greenfield, a native of Baker, Louisiana, will become the next UN Ambassador.

According to her official Department of State biography:

Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield’s 34-year Foreign Service career includes an ambassadorship to Liberia (2008-20120), and foreign postings in Switzerland (at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations), Pakistan, Kenya, The Gambia, Nigeria, and Jamaica. In addition to the Bureau of Human Resources, her Washington postings include the Bureau of African Affairs (2006-2008) where she served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, and the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (2004-2006) where she served as Deputy Assistant Secretary. - DOS

By reading her bio, it's clear to see that Thomas-Greenfield is a true ambassador. It's refreshing to see someone be appointed because of their accomplishments, not because of their monetary donations. President-Elect Joe Biden made the announcement today.

Thomas-Greenfield's long list of accomplishments includes a degree from LSU. We congratulate her on her forthcoming nomination.
