With the 2012  national election only months away Louisiana State Republican Party Leaders have split into two camps behind presumed nominee Mitt Romney and libertarian candidate Ron Paul. The two conventions have elected separate delegates and have failed to reach an agreement.

Despite the split, State GOP Chairman Roger Villere sent a 46-member delegate list to the Republican National Committee.

Paul supporters plan to challenge the chairman's list with the RNC as they maintain they followed the proper nominating rules. Charlie Davis, Louisiana's state chairman for the Ron Paul campaign has already filed paperwork with national party officials to appeal the decision.

Similar disputes are ongoing in other states.
