Whether you want to purchase a gun, some ammunition or something related to hunting, next weekend will be your chance to save a little money on those purchases.

The Louisiana Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday exempts multiple purchases from Louisiana's four percent state sales tax next weekend.

There are a wide array of items you can purchase and save the tax money:

  • Accessories designed to be used for hunting
  • Ammunition intended to be fired from a gun or firearm
  • Shotguns
  • Rifles
  • Pistols
  • Revolvers
  • Other handguns
  • Safety gear
  • Hunting clothing, like jackets, hats, gloves, mittens, face masks and thermal underwear
  • Off-road vehicles such as all-terrain vehicles designed for hunting

The Louisiana Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday will be Friday, September 6, through Sunday, September 8. The exemption does not apply to golf carts, bikes, motorcycles, tractors, or motor vehicles that may be legally driven on highways.

Only items being bought for individuals qualify for the tax break.  Business purchases are not eligible.
