BATON ROUGE, La. (KPEL) -- U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu has nearly $3.5 million dollars in her campaign account, according to information released by her office Thursday.

In the latest fundraising cycle, the Democrat incumbent raised $1.2 million.

That puts Landrieu ahead of her only declared Republican challenger, U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy, who announced earlier this month he had $2.4 million in his campaign account, raising $500,000 during the latest fundraising cycle.

Landrieu's campaign says she has nearly twice as much in her campaign account as she did at this point during her last re-election bid.
