Rain was the story of the day in Sun Belt Conference softball on Sunday, as Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns and the South Alabama Jaguars, the two league leaders, both had their respective games rained out.

Louisiana's match-up with the Appalachian St. Mountaineers was washed away in Boone, North Carolina, as was the scheduled doubleheader in Mobile, Alabama between South Alabama and the Texas St. Bobcats.

The Cajuns swept Appalachian St. in a doubleheader on Saturday, to improve to 34-5 overall, and 17-3 in Sun Belt Conference play, which lengthens their lead over the Jaguars, who were unable to play all weekend.

After being rained out of their scheduled games against Texas St. on both Saturday and Sunday, the Jaguars remain at 32-7, overall, and 14-3 in league play.

With two weekends to go, Louisiana leads South Alabama by 1.5 games, and also holds the tie-breaker of them, after winning 2-of-3 game in a series against the Jaguars earlier this season.

The Cajuns travel to take on Oregon in non-conference action tis weekend, before closing out their regular season with a conference series against ULM, while South Alabama hosts North Dakota St. in a non-conference series next weekend, before closing out their season against Troy.

Speaking of Troy, the Trojans completed a three-game series sweep of Georgia Southern on Sunday, winning 13-1, while Georgia St. won the rubber game of a three-game set against UT-Arlington, winning 5-4.
