La. Supreme Court Upholds Accused Killer’s Conviction
In an update to THIS STORY, the conviction of an accused killer in Lafayette Parish has been upheld by the Louisiana Supreme Court. In 2010, Mary Henderson Trahan was convicted of second-degree murder concerning the shooting death of her live-in boyfriend George Barbu.
Prosecutors appealed after an appeals court ruled the evidence did not support her conviction. But the court has now struck that down, saying a rational juror could find from the evidence that Trahan had "specific intent to kill or to inflict great bodily harm" to Barbu.
