It's a mixed bag for unemployment claims in Louisiana. State labor department figures show initial claims climbing very slightly with 17 more claims for the week ending January 28 than the previous week's total. But this year's figure of 3,360 claims is lower than it was for the comparable week a year earlier. Meanwhile, continued unemployment claims (42,319 now) fell more significantly, with nearly 900 less claims than the previous week (43,211).
