The Bayou State, and several of its municipalities, rank high on a number of national lists. Some are good news. Others, not so much.

Louisiana women are the nation's 4th most likely to be murdered by a man. AP reports, a recent study indicates the most recent FBI statistics indicate 1.99 Louisiana women per 100,000 were murdered by a man in 2013. The only states with a higher rate of single perpetrator, single victim murders of women by men are #1 South Carolina, #2 Alaska, and #3 New Mexico.

About 40% of women murdered nationally are killed by a husband, ex husband, boyfriend, or ex boyfriend.
