The annual report released for the Lafayette Parish School System says nearly 75 percent of the district's schools earned grades of A, B, or C based on standardized testing results. Of those, eight schools improved by one letter grade. Despite some increases, proficiency in some core learning areas is still lacking. Third grade students missed the 2014 English proficiency goal of 73.5 percent  by 3.5 points. The same age group fell short 4 points of the Math proficiency goal of 78.5. The report shows the parish's 8th graders showed similar results -- falling short of both the math and science goals set.
