The LSU Tigers advanced in the postseason SEC Tournament, after defeating the Alabama Crimson Ride, 68-56, on Thursday night at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.

The win advances the seventh-seeded Tigers into the quarterfinals, where they will take on second-seed Kentucky on Friday night, while the loss for the Crimson Tides eliminates them from the tournament, and ends their season.

LSU led at halftime, 35-24, and then out-scored Alabama in the second half, 33-32, as they went on 12-point victory.

The Tigers out-shot the Crimson Tide from the field, 50%-36%, while also finishing with a 38-31 rebound advantage.

Shavon Coleman led the way for LSU, with 15 points and 8 rebounds, while Tim Quarterman scored 12 off the bench.

In a losing cause for Alabama, Trevor Releford and Shannon Hale each collected 11 points.

The win for the Tigers avenges an 82-80 setback to the Crimson Tide during the regular season, back on January 25 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

With the victory, LSU improved to 18-12 on the season, while Alabama fell to 13-19.,

The Tigers will take on Kentucky on Friday evening at 6 o'clock, with a trip to the tournament semi-finals on the line.
