The second-ranked LSU Tigers ran their current win streak to five game on Friday evening, defeating the Missouri Tigers, 2-0, in the opening game of a three-game, weekend, SEC series, in Columbia, Missouri.

LSU first baseman Mason Katz gave the Tigers the lead in the top half of the fourth inning, blasting a solo home run, to make it 1-0.

LSU then added an unearned run in the top half of the eighth inning, to extend their lead 2-0, and go went on to capture the two-run victory.

Katz, along with shortstop Alex Bergman, had two hits for LSU, while catcher Dylan Kelly collected two hits for Missouri.

Aaron Nola (4-0) pitched 7.2 innings of shutout baseball, to pick up the win for LSU, while Chris Cotton recorded his seventh save.

Rob Zastryzny (1-5) was the hard luck loser for Missouri.

With the victory, LSU improved to 24-2 overall, and 6-1 in SEC play, while Missouri fell to 9-13 overall, and 2-5 in league play.

Game two of the series is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 1 pm.
