The seventh-ranked LSU Tigers were victorious on Friday night, defeating the Purdue Boilermakers, 10-0, in the opening game of a three-game, weekend, non-conference series, at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge.

LSU scored a run in the second inning, three more in the third, one in the sixth, two in the seventh, and three in the eighth, as they cruised to their sixth shutout win of the year.

Alex Bregman led the way, offensively, for the Tigers, going 3-for-4, with a home run, and four runs batted in, while Kade Scivicque went 3-for-4 with an RBI, as LSU out-hit Purdue, 13-4.

Aaron Nola (4-0) recorded the win for LSU, tossing eight innings of two-hit, shutout baseball, striking out 12, while Jordan Minch (0-4) suffered the loss for Purdue.

With the victory, LSU improved to 12-2 on the season, while Purdue fell to 1-8.

The middle game of the three-game set is scheduled for Saturday evening at 6:30 pm.
