The second-ranked LSU Tigers are back in action on Friday night, taking on the 8th-ranked Houston Cougars in the opening day of play in the Houston College Classic at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas.

LSU will face Baylor on Saturday, and then Nebraska on Sunday in the final two days of the event

The match-up on Friday night will mark the first game that the Tigers play away from home this season.

LSU is currently 12-1 on the season, after defeating the Grambling St. Tigers, 7-1, in non-conference action on Wednesday night.

Offensively, the Tigers are hitting a .334, along with nine home runs, 92 runs batted in, and 27 stolen bases in 31 attempts, while out-scoring the opposition, 102-43.

Pitching-wise, LSU sports an overall, combined, team ERA. of 2.31, compared to a 7.29 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .214 batting average against.

Houston heads into the event with a record of 8-4.

The Cougars are hitting a .277 as a team as season ago, along with seven homers, 72 RBI’s, and 21 steals in 24 attempts.

On the hill, Houston has a team ERA. of a 3.22, holding opponents to a .266 batting average against.

Houston leads the all-time series against LSU, 23-20, and has won the last two meetings.

Game times for the three games that LSU will play are 7 o'clock on Friday night, 3:30 pm on Saturday afternoon, and 11 o'clock on Sunday morning.
