LSU Takes On South Carolina At Tiger Stadium – Game Preview
The 7th-ranked LSU Tigers are back in action on Saturday afternoon, when coach Les Miles’ squad takes on the South Carolina Gamecocks in a key SEC match-up at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge.
The game, which actually serves as a home game for South Carolina, was moved from Columbia, South Carolina to Baton Rouge because of historic flooding in South Carolina.
LSU ran their season-opening win streak to four games last Saturday, defeating the Eastern Michigan Eagles, Syracuse Orange, 44-22, to improve to 4-0, overall, while remaining 2-0 in SEC play.
Offensively, LSU is averaging 36.0 points, 429.5 total yards, 334.0 rushing yards, and 95.5 passing yards per game, while allowing 21.5 points, 293.5 total yards, 106.0 rushing yards, and 187.5 passing yards a contest, defensively.
LSU is led by sophomore running back Leonard Fournette, who has piled up 864 rushing yards, including 11 touchdowns, this season.
South Carolina, set to host their third home game of the year, lost to Missouri last week, 24-10, to fall to 2-3, overall, while standing at 0-3 in conference play.
The Gamecocks, offensively, are averaging 20.8 points per game, along with 353.4 yards, including 163.2 passing yards and 90.2 rushing yards, while allowing 25.8 points, 388.8 total yards, including 218.8 passing yards and 170.0 rushing yards.
South Carolina is paced by freshman quarterback Lorenzo Nunez, who has thrown for 374 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing for another 340 yards and a score.
LSU leads the all-time series, 17-2-1, and has won the last five meetings between the two schools.
