The LSU Tigers open up their 20150-2016 regular season men's basketball schedule on Friday night, when they play host to the McNeese St. Cowboys in a non-conference match-up.

Tipoff time at the Maravich Center in Baton Rouge is slated for 8 o'clock.

LSU received its first Associated Press media ranking since the end of the 2009 season when it was voted in at No. 21 in the preseason poll.

The Tigers were last ranked in the AP poll at No. 19 in the final regular season poll of 2009.

LSU went 22-11 last season, including an 11-7 conference mark.

Offensively, last season, the Tigers 73.4 points-per-game, while shooting 45.5% from the floor, and 33.9% from beyond the three-point arc.

Defensively, opponents averaged 67.7 points-per-game against the Tigers, while shooting 40.2% from the floor, including 30.9% from three-point land.

McNeese St. finished last season with an overall record of 15-16, including an 8-10 mark in Southland Conference play.

Offensively, the Cowboys averaged 69.5 points-per-game a season ago, while shooting 42.3% from the floor, including 31.1% from beyond the three-point arc.

Defensively, opponents averaged 71.3 points a contest against McNeese St., while shooting 45.1% from the floor, including 34.7% from three-point land.

The game marks the first of a season-opening three-game homestand for LSU.
