The LSU Tigers will have to turn to another starting pitcher for their first game of the 2017 SEC Tournament, after suspending Todd Peterson.

A freshman right-hander, Peterson was expected to start the first game for the Tigers in the event, but has been suspended for violation of team rules.

As a result, LSU will turn to sophomore right-hander Caleb Gilbert, when they take on the Missouri Tigers at 4:30 on Wednesday afternoon.

Peterson is 3-1 with a 3.98 ERA. on the season.

Gilbert, who will be getting the start to allow ace Alex Lange to have a full week of rest. will be making only his fourth start of the year, and will bring in an overall record of 3-1, to go along with a 3.09 ERA.

Lange will get the start on Thursday, with Alex Poche and Eric Walker slated for games three and four, respectively, provided LSU gets that far.

To reach the semifinals, which are scheduled for Saturday, LSU must win twice in three days, while the tournament championship is set for Sunday.
