LSU Swept By Vanderbilt In SEC Twinbill
The third-ranked LSU Tigers were swept in an SEC doubleheader on Saturday, falling to the fourth-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores by scores of 5-3, and 9-3, in Nashville, Tennessee.
The two teams played a doubleheader to beat the projected rain in Sunday's forecast.
In the opener, Vanderbilt scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, and never looked back, outhitting LSU, 10-4, as they went on to the two-run victory.
Jared Miller picked-up the win for the Commodores, with Carson Fulmer recording his sixth save, while Kyle Bouman (3-1) suffered the loss for the Tigers, who had their eight-game win streak snapped.
In the nightcap, Vanderbilt had another big early inning, scoring three in the bottom of the second, and never looked back, en route to the six-run win.
The Commodores outhit the Tigers, 11-5, in the second game.
Hayden Stone (1-0) recorded the win the win in relief, pitching the final 5.1 innings, while Jared Poche' (4-1) suffered the loss.
With the two wins, Vanderbilt improved to 18-3, overall, and 2-1 in SEC play, while LSU fell to 17-4, and 1-2, respectively.
LSU returns to action on Wednesday night, when they host South Alabama.
