LSU Travels To Take On Syracuse – Preview

The 8th-ranked LSU Tigers are back in action on Saturday afternoon, when coach Les Miles’ squad travels to Syracuse, New York to take on the Syracuse Orange in non-conference play.

The game marks the first of two non-conference tilts for the Tigers, before they get back into SEC play on October 10, against South Carolina.

LSU won their home opener last week, defeating the Auburn Tigers, 45-21, to improve to 2-0, overall, and 2-0 in SEC play.

Offensively, LSU is averaging 33.0 points, 411.0 total yards, 338.5 rushing yards, and 72.5 passing yards per game, while allowing 20.0 points, 319.0 total yards, 101.5 rushing yards, and 217.5 passing yards a contest, defensively.

LSU is led by sophomore running back Leonard Fournette, who has piled up 387 rushing yards, including six touchdowns, this season.

Syracuse, a member of the ACC, defeated Central Michigan last week, 30-27, to move to 3-0, overall, while standing at 1-0 in conference play.

The Orange offense is averaging 35.7 points per game, along with 374.0 yards, including 165.3 passing yards and 208.7 rushing yards, while allowing 14.7 points, 334.3 total yards, including 287.7 passing yards and 46.7 rushing yards.

Syracuse is paced by freshman running back Jordan Fredericks, who has compiled 197 rushing yards, along with two scores, so far this season.

The all-time series between the two school is tied, 1-1, with both match-ups coming in postseason play, with LSU winning the 1965 Sugar Bowl, and Syracuse winning the 1989 Hall of Fame Bowl.
