National Tourism Week kicks off on May 2nd and will last till May 10th. And St. Landry Parish will welcome Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne to the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center in Opelousas, which has been open since May 2011.

Dardenne will host a news conference at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6th at the nearly 4-year-old tourism information center. According to the SLPTC, domestic travelers spent $94 million in St. Landry Parish alone, which generated $4.9 million in state tax receipts and $2.69 million in local tax receipts.
