A spokeswoman for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office says deputies arrested the wrong person in the Saturday shooting and injuring of two bystanders near the Mall of Louisiana.

Casey Rayborn Hicks says a 17-year-old was released from East Baton Rouge Parish Prison yesterday, less than 48 hours after being booked on four counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Hicks says the teen was not involved in the shooting nor was he near the mall when it occurred. She says witnesses had identified him in a photo lineup as the person who fired a handgun into a crowd.

Hicks says another 17-year-old has been arrested.  The new suspect admitted firing a weapon during an argument with another man outside the mall.
