Lafayette Police announced an arrest in the Christmas Eve mall shooting that left one person wounded. According to a release, 20-year-old Marlon Bryant Woods Jr. surrendered to police at the Lafayette Police Department and is awaiting transport to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center to be booked on the active warrant for Attempted Second Degree Murder, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm and Terrorizing.

UPDATE:

According to Lafayette Police Spokeswoman Bridgette Dugas, the man police were trying to identify in reference to yesterday's shooting at Acadiana Mall has been identified.

Dugas did not specify what connection this man has to the case.

UPDATE (6:10 pm):

According to Corporal Bridgette Dugas with the Lafayette Police Department, they are seeking the person responsible for shooting a man at the mall this afternoon.

Two men were apparently involved in an altercation today, and one man shot another.

A Kpel source says there was an argument between two people.

Their investigation to find the shooter is ongoing.

Dugas is asking anyone who might know any information about the shooter to call Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS (8477).

The victim is now in stable condition at a Lafayette hospital.

Lafayette Police Investigate Shooting at Acadiana Mal:

 Lafayette- On December 24, 2018 at approximately 4:19 pm, Lafayette Police responded to the Acadiana Mall located at 5725 Johnston St. in reference to shots fired. Officers located one victim at the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for non-life threatening injury. At this time detectives are following up on several leads regarding the incident. No suspect has been arrested at this time. The investigation into the incident remains on-going. Anyone with information is urged to call Lafayette Police or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

A Kpel news source tells us that there has been a call about a shooting at the Acadiana Mall.

All stores at the Mall are currently in lock down mode as police investigate.

Another Kpel source tells us that two people had a dispute, and one person was shot.

That person was taken to a local hospital.

Just before 4:30 this evening, a call came in about a possible incident at the mall.

Officials are on scene, and we will bring you information when we have it.
