35-year-old Shane Porche of Mamou is now dead after a late night crash on Tuesday. Troopers say he wasn't wearing a seat belt.

State Police spokesman Trooper Brooks David says Porche ran off the left side of LA 91 north of LA 368 in Acadia Parish, hit a ditch and flipped. He died at the scene. Toxicology samples have been sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

"While not every crash is survivable, Troopers continue to stress the importance of seat belt use," says Trooper David. "According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2014 alone, seat belts saved over 12,000 people. Please take a moment and share with your loved ones the importance of wearing a seat belt every trip, every time."
