Man Accused Of Threatening Family Members Taken From Lafayette Home Into Custody

A 19-year-old man has been taken into custody for allegedly threatening bodily harm towards some of his family members.

Lafayette Police were called out to the home in the 1600 block of Louisiana Avenue, where family members told them of the alleged threats and that they believed he was inside the home. The standoff happened for about three hours until police say the man, who is still unidentified by police, came out of the home and surrendered.

The man has been transported to a local facility for evaluation. Police were forced to shut down several streets during the incident, but no one was evacuated. Louisiana State Police also assisted in the operation.
