HOUMA, La. (AP) — A 27-year-old man allegedly breaking into cars in the parking lot of a Houma theater was arrested after a high speed chase.

The Courier reports Benjamin Crappel of Houma was booked Sunday afternoon with four counts of simple burglary, aggravated flight from officers, aggravated assault, hit and run, resisting an officer, obstruction of justice, and possession of drugs with intent to distribute.

Police said the chase ended when Crappel jumped into the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter say Crappel was arrested and found to be in possession of 29 Xanax pills.
