48-year-old Brien Whittle of Lafayette was arrested on distribution of child pornography charges on Thursday.

La. State Police spokesman Trooper Stephen Hammons says Whittle is now in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center after detectives learned that he had allegedly distributed videos depicting the illegal images over the internet. Hammons says they found over 100 videos depicting child pornography at Whittle's home in Lafayette.

Whittle faces two counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

Police continue to investigate.

Hammons says this case was a part of "Operation Child Watch," which seeks to rescue children from the potential abuse of child predators. He encourages you to call State Police at 337-262-5880 if you would like information about presentations concerning child predators.
