A man has been arrested by Eunice police after they allege he stole more than $2,000 from his own elderly parents.

Eunice Police arrested 51-year-old John Bourque Saturday for 16 counts of theft of the assets, 16 counts of forgery and 16 counts of monetary instrument abuse.

Deputy Police Chief Varden Guillory says the parents started to realized something was wrong when they started noticing discrepancies in their bank account.

Guillory says the pair then gave copies of checks cashed on their account to police to show the forgeries.

Bourque was arraigned Monday and his bond is set at $23,500.  He remains in the Eunice City Jail.
