State Police say they were contacted on October 5th by a Lake Charles area casino about a patron that attempted to buy into poker game using a counterfeit $100 bill. When State Police arrived on the scene they arrested Jarred Blakey, a 28 year old resident of Lake Charles.

Further investigation found that Blakey had additional counterfeit bills and marijuana in his possession and in his hotel room. Authorities also believe that on October 4th Blakey used counterfeit money as well.

Troopers placed Blakey under arrest and he was charged with ten counts of monetary instrument abuse and one count of marijuana possession. Under Louisiana law monetary instrument abuse is punishable by a fine of up to $1,000,000 and/or up to ten years in prison. In addition to the fine and jail time the offender is required to make full restitution.

Blakey was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. His bond was set at $105,000.
