Man Arrested In New Iberia Robbery-Turned-Stabbing

55-year-old Danny Thompson is behind bars after Iberia Parish deputies say he attacked a woman with a knife after she resisted giving him money.

Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal says deputies responded to the incident about an hour before midnight on Sunday. It happened in the 500 block of Grand Pre Blvd. in New Iberia.

Deputies say Thompson approached the 25-year-old woman with a knife and demanded money from her. When she resisted, Thompson allegedly cut her several times on her head and neck area. Sheriff Ackal says he also tried to steal her car but was unsuccessful and ended up being apprehended a short time later.
