Update: The man accused of carjacking and stabbing a woman in Lafayette yesterday has been arrested.

Lafayette Police Department spokesman Corporal Paul Mouton says 49-year-old Ronald Rice of Lafayette has been charged with Attempted First Degree Murder for allegedly cutting the woman in the neck during a struggle before he allegedly stole her car while she was parked in the 2000 block of West University Avenue.

The victim is still in the hospital in stable condition.

Lafayette Police are looking for the man responsible for carjacking a woman in the 2000 block of West University at knifepoint at around 7:50 this morning.

Police say the man walked up to the woman's driver's side door as she was sitting in the car.

The two started to struggle, and the woman was forced out of the car at knifepoint.

The man drove off into the direction of Jeanne Street.

Police say the woman described the man as a black male wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt.  She says he had on blue jeans and a baseball cap.

Police are asking the public to be on the lookout the stolen 2005 Lincoln LS with the license plate number of OUA056.

Anyone with information on the car or the suspect should call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

The victim, who received a cut on her neck, is listed in stable condition at a local hospital.
