The teen accused in the death of an Arnaudville man on Philomine Street has turned himself in to police. 17-year-old Brian Harris is now behind bars after allegedly murdering 37-year-old John Paul Batiste in a shooting on Sunday.

The suspect has now been identified in Sunday's fatal shooting in Lafayette. Lafayette Police say 17-year-old Brian Harris of Lafayette is accused of shooting 37-year-old John Paul Batiste of Arnaudville multiple times on Philomine Street.

Lafayette police are also looking for Kirt Favors for questioning in reference to this homicide.


The victim in the shooting has been identified as 37-year-old John Paul Batiste of Arnaudville.


The Lafayette Police Department was called out to investigate after a man was shot in the 100 block of Philomine Street.

The victim was found in the roadway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. This was around 5:15 Sunday afternoon.

The man was taken to a local hospital, and he died later in the evening.

Detectives say they have not yet identified a suspect in the case, but they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
