At crash at around 9:30 last night took the life of an Opelousas man.

State Police officials say that 41-year-old Kelwin K. Cassimere stopped his car in the middle of Louisiana Highway 3043, and he got out of the car.

A man driving another car from the opposite direction, tried to avoid hitting Cassimere's car, and he ended up striking and killing Cassimere.

Cassimer was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and routine toxicology tests are pending in this case.

Officials say they don't what motivated Cassimere to stop his car and get out, but they are working to establish more information in connection this crash.
