22-year-old Jordan Melancon of Lafayette was killed Monday night in a shooting near the Martin Luther King Center; 21-year-old Jacob Ardoin of Carencro has been identified as his alleged murderer.

Lafayette Police say it happened around 7:15 p.m. Monday when a fight broke out in the street around the 400 block of Hilda Street. As the crowd began to disperse, officers then found Melancon collapsed on the ground from a gunshot wound in front of the home. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Ardoin has been arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder.
