UPDATE – Lafayette Police Looking For Vehicle Of Interest In Homicide On Hazel Street

Update: LPD are now trying to find the owner or operator of a white single cab pickup truck shown on surveillance video around the time of the homicide. The truck is possibly missing the tailgate and/or rear bumper. If you have any information, please call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

Update: The victim in this morning's shooting in Lafayette has been identified as 48-year-old Stephen Phillips (AKA "The General").

Lafayette Police were called out to the 300 block of Hazel Street after a call came in about shots being fired at around 1:40 this morning.

Police say they found a man lying in the roadway when they got to the scene.

The victim had been shot several times.

The man was taken to a hospital, but he later died.

Detectives are asking anyone who might have any information about the man's murder to call Lafayette Police or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
