Man Held Woman At Trailer Park In Evangeline Parish, State Police Say
PINE PRAIRIE, La. (AP) — A man was shot and killed by police Thursday after he took his girlfriend hostage in a trailer in rural Evangeline Parish, according to State Police.
The man has not been identified. State Police say the incident remains under investigation.
State Police spokesman Brooks David says the situation began about 9:30 a.m. at the Easton Oaks mobile home park after authorities received a report of screaming and gunfire in a trailer.
David says a woman in the home broke out a window and screamed for help.
David says when the man was visible in the window, "a trooper fired one round at the subject, killing him."
Police rescued the woman, who was not harmed. She also has not been identified.
